Contemporary dance is a dance form that incorporates both classical dance as well as modern dance. Contemporary dance has a wide variety
of movement that doesn't adhere to the basic lines and positions of
classical ballet. Contemporary ballet offers floor work, partnering, and
it is done in a turned in position as opposed to classical ballet which
is done in a turned out position. contemporary dance works well with modern dance and jazz it is also one way used to express emotions through dance. Since the emergence of contemporary dance in the early 20th Century, people
have argued about and discussed the differences and similarities between
ballet and contemporary dance. When Contemporary dance began to seep into the
dance world, it was thought of as the opposite of ballet. The
forerunners of Contemporary dance were insistent upon their new dance form
expressing freedom from ballet. Since the start Contemporary dance choreographers, creators, and dancers prided themselves in
the innovation of their art form and in its opposition to ballet.
oh well said. but my opinion on this is that both dances show and express same thing it just depends on what the dance is about the only difference is that one you have shoes that kinda protects your feet and the other your you point and flex with your bare feet. and all ballet you wear costumes and contemporary dance well its tights. that's just my opinion on things they all beautiful to watch in the end. if you care do feel free to school me.
